Terms of Service

By using the STIG Hardening Tool, you agree to these terms of service.

Use of the Service

The STIG Hardening Tool is provided as-is for generating remediation scripts from DISA Manual STIG XCCDF benchmark files (Linux, macOS, and Windows). You are solely responsible for understanding what each STIG rule and remediation command does, reviewing every generated command, and testing scripts in a non-production environment before use on any live system.

Platform Limitations

Capabilities differ by platform because DISA fixtext differs. Linux and macOS scripts may include substantial runnable automation. Windows scripts are primarily implementation workbooks: structured Group Policy checklists and documentation, with only a small subset of runnable PowerShell where DISA embeds commands. Windows output does not auto-import GPO settings, does not replace SCC/OpenSCAP or official DISA assessment, and does not guarantee compliance from checklist output alone.

Liability

We are not liable for any damages resulting from the use of this tool or generated scripts. Use at your own risk. Running STIG remediations without understanding their impact can break services, lock accounts, or reduce system availability.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the STIG Hardening Tool and its Service Provider from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or related to your use of the STIG Hardening Tool, including but not limited to: (a) any misuse or misapplication of generated remediation scripts; (b) any breach of these Terms of Service by you; (c) any violation of applicable laws or regulations; or (d) any damage to your system or data resulting from your execution of scripts. This obligation shall survive the termination of your use of the service.

Donations

Donations are voluntary and do not affect access to functionality. All donation transactions are final.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
